OUR WING CHUN
Our backgrounD
Our two founding Instructors are each experienced in 3 styles of Wing Chun and have been training partners for over 20 years. That combined knowledge and training time has resulted in the throughly-researched and clearly-structured system we teach today.
WHAT WE TEACH
Martial Wing Chun
We teach Wing Chun primarily as a system of self-defence which can be adapted according to the practitioner’s size, strength and athletic ability. The techniques of Wing Chun are fast and economical and follow an underlying strategy which makes them effective straight away.
The majority of our class time is spent on partner training, helping students to understand exactly how the techniques are applied from their very first lesson. We deal mainly with close range self-defence, learning how to protect ourselves from hand and leg strikes, being grabbed, pushed or held and how to defend against weapons where that is possible.
The Art of Wing Chun
The art can be found in training with technical precision, fluidity and adaptability. We teach the traditional Forms (solo training patterns) of Wing Chun as well as our own drills and exercises both with and without a partner. All of these exercises enhance the trainees’ self-defence abilities by increasing attributes such as strength, coordination and power. However, many people find pleasure in practising these sequences simply for relaxation, mobility and to improve mental focus.
YOUR PROGRESSION
We pride ourselves on having a clearly-structured syllabus which takes students through the whole system step-by-step. Wing Chun is a technically fascinating martial art and although most students join for practical self-defence tuition, they often discover a deeper enjoyment in their training as time goes by because it is thought-provoking and challenging far beyond its functional nature.
We continue to develop our syllabus with the goal of making Wing Chun easier to learn and understand in its entirety.
